Year 1 & 2

Key Stage 1 (KS1)

Key Stage 1 (KS1)

Key Stage 1 (KS1) is the first key stage of primary school, a phase of education, normally known as Year 1 and Year 2. KS1 marks a shift from EYFS to more subject-specific learning. KS1 covers all compulsory national curriculum subjects such as: English, Maths, Science, History, Geography, Computing, PE, Arabic, Islamic, Art and Design and Music.

In KS1 we provide children with a rich, exciting curriculum that inspires and engages all children. We aim to teach all national curriculum objectives through our exciting and innovative themes. We believe in providing our students with a smooth transition from EYFS by offering elements of continuous provision within our learning environment. Where possible, we try to make all topics cross-curricular, so that children can put what they are learning into context and develop their real-life problem-solving skills too. Each subject theme will include hands on activities, memorable moments and will have a great focus on subject specific knowledge and skills. Across every subject, we place an emphasis on independent learning, using a range of creative methods to inspire our children’s enthusiasm. We promote academic success, creativity, and a positive attitude to learning by continuing to teach the children our core values to support them to become respectful citizens.
