Years 7-13

Secondary Section

Students thrive in their secondary education experience at IIES, where the focus is on nurturing individual potential, fostering personal growth and achieving outstanding academic results. Our inclusive approach to education helps to inspire a genuine interest and enthusiasm in our students to work hard and enjoy the learning process.

We encourage our students to be aware of the broader world around them, to be considerate of others, and to acquire the skills that will equip them to make a positive contribution to the world. We nurture the abilities to listen, consider other opinions and perspectives, form opinions, and have the confidence to stand up and be heard.

At Innova International English School, the Secondary level of schooling takes children from ages 11 to 16 and is broken into two stages:

● Key Stage 3 (Years 7 to 9, ages 11 to 14)
● Key Stage 4 (Years 10 and 11, ages 14 to 16)
● Key Stage 5 (Years 12 and 13, ages 16 to 18)

Our bespoke curriculum is based on the English National Curriculum.

Key Stage 3 involves a broad and balanced curriculum to give students the essential knowledge, understanding and skills to become highly educated global citizens. We take a cross-curricular approach to learning, promoting literacy, numeracy, technology, and cultural awareness across disciplines. Personal, social, cultural, health, and economic education (PSCHE) is covered weekly but incorporated into all lessons where appropriate to prepare students for later life. As they progress through KS3, children are taught in mixed-ability groups. KS3 pupils are usually expected to do an hour of homework every evening. There are no formal national exams for children in KS3, but they are assessed regularly through various methods, including tests, coursework, and teacher observation.

Key Stage 4 involves studying a number of compulsory and optional subjects in greater depth, leading to IGCSE qualifications at the end of either Year 10 or Year 11, depending on the educational pathway chosen.

Innova International English School proudly delivers the Cambridge International Curriculum, a global standard for education, recognised by universities and employers worldwide. The Cambridge Curriculum is flexible, challenging and inspiring, culturally sensitive yet international in approach. Together, Cambridge and Innova help students to develop an informed curiosity, to think bigger, to reach higher, and to build a lifelong passion for learning. Students gain the essential skills they need for success at university and in their future careers. Working with a network of over 10,000 schools, and over a period of 160 years, Cambridge Assessment International, a division of Cambridge University, is the world’s largest provider of international education. Programmes and qualifications are created by subject experts, rooted in academic rigour, and reflect the latest educational research. Every year, almost a million students follow the Cambridge pathway, developing learners who are confident, responsible, reflective, innovative, engaged, and equipped for success in the modern world.

Key stage 5 (Years12 & 13) is more commonly referred to as 6th form, where students specialise in 3 to a maximum of 4 subjects at Advanced Subsidiary level and Advanaced levels in preparation for University.
