KS2 geography focuses on developing a child’s understanding of the world. Children will study the world’s most significant human and physical features. They will develop their geographical knowledge, understanding and skills to enhance their locational and place knowledge.
Geography topics taught in KS2 are:
Locational knowledge covers key physical and human characteristics, topographical features and identifying the position of latitude, longitude, Equator, Northern and Southern Hemispheres, the Tropics and the Arctic and Antarctic Circles. Place knowledge covers understanding of geographical similarities and differences. Human and physical geography covers climate zones, biomes, mountains, volcanoes and earthquakes and the water cycle.
